I've always believed that our bodies have an incredible ability to heal when we give them the right support. This belief has guided my entire career and is at the heart of how I practice today. My journey into health and wellbeing began many years ago in the fitness industry. I worked as a personal trainer and taught a variety of fitness classes, including Pilates, before becoming an advanced yoga instructor and opening my own yoga studio. I loved helping people discover how movement could improve not only their physical health but also their confidence, mental wellbeing, and quality of life. My passion for healthy living didn't stop there; I also ran a healthy eating deli and, together with my husband, owned a gym. Looking back, every step of my career has been interconnected by the same goal: helping people feel healthier, stronger, and happier. Once my three children were old enough, I decided it was finally time to pursue a dream I'd held for many years. I returned to study and completed a three-year degree at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York completing with a 1st-class honours. During my final year, I also travelled to London for a specialist training course in Tangible Orthopaedic Acupuncture, allowing me to deepen my knowledge and skills in treating musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and pain management. I've always been drawn to a holistic approach to health. I don't believe there is a quick fix or a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, I think lasting health comes from understanding the whole person. The food we eat, how we move our bodies, how we sleep, how we manage stress, and how we care for ourselves all play an essential role in our wellbeing. Acupuncture therapy is a wonderful tool for helping the body restore balance, relieve pain, and encourage healing, but I also believe in empowering my patients with the knowledge and support they need to make positive, sustainable changes in their everyday lives. Whether you're coming to see me for pain relief, stress management, hormonal health, digestive concerns, or simply because you're looking to feel more like yourself again, my aim is always the same: to listen, to understand your individual needs, and to help you achieve better health in a way that feels right for you. I know what it's like to balance work, family, and life's many demands, and I bring that understanding into every treatment, including Sunderland acupuncture sessions. My hope is that when you walk through my door, you'll feel listened to, cared for, and supported on your journey towards holistic health.

True health isn't built in a single appointment; it's nurtured through consistency. While many people experience positive changes after their first acupuncture treatment, lasting results often come from regular acupuncture therapy sessions that provide your body the time and support it needs to heal, rebalance, and maintain its holistic health. Just as individuals invest in regular gym memberships or personal training to sustain their results, acupuncture works best when integrated into your ongoing wellbeing routine. Consistent acupuncture treatments build on previous sessions, supporting your body’s natural healing processes, reducing the likelihood of recurring symptoms, and promoting long-term health instead of merely managing problems as they arise. To make regular acupuncture more accessible, Sunderland Acupuncture offers a variety of monthly Ritual memberships. You can choose the Ritual, which includes any 45-60 minute follow-up acupuncture treatment, or opt for the Restore & Reset Ritual, featuring our 30-minute Restore & Reset treatment. Regular acupuncture can help you maintain your progress, support long-term wellbeing, and establish self-care as a consistent part of your routine. Choose the Ritual that aligns best with your lifestyle and treatment goals: Essential Ritual, perfect for maintaining your wellbeing with one treatment each month; Signature Ritual, designed for those requiring more consistent support with two treatments monthly; Premium Ritual, which includes three treatments every month for enhanced support during periods of persistent symptoms or when your body needs extra care; and Ultimate Ritual, our most comprehensive plan with four treatments each month, ideal for those seeking intensive support. As a member, you'll also receive a 10% discount on any additional acupuncture treatments booked during your Ritual membership. Your monthly Ritual treatment(s) are intended for use within that calendar month to maintain consistency, but if life intervenes, you can carry forward your treatment for one month only. Beyond a means to spread treatment costs, your Ritual is a commitment to prioritizing your health. By investing in regular acupuncture, you're empowering your body to build resilience, maintain balance, and support your pain management and overall wellbeing for the long term.

Did you know that your private health insurance may cover the cost of acupuncture therapy? Many UK private health insurers and healthcare cash plans include acupuncture treatments as part of their benefits, although the level of cover and any referral requirements can vary between policies.

As a proud member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), I am recognised by many major insurers, facilitating eligible patients in claiming back some or all of their treatment costs. If you have private medical insurance or a health cash plan, it's advisable to check your policy or contact your insurer before your appointment to explore your options for holistic health solutions.

If you're already benefiting from private health insurance, don’t assume that acupuncture isn’t included; it might already be one of the benefits you’re paying for. The British Acupuncture Council maintains an up-to-date list of insurers that recognise BAcC members, such as Aviva, AXA Health, Benenden Health, Bupa, Simplyhealth, Vitality, WPA, and many others, ensuring access to effective pain management options, including Sunderland acupuncture.
